Description

A delightful balance of sweet and savory, Sweet Jalapeño Pork features tender pork shoulder marinated in a flavorful mix of jalapeños, brown sugar, and spices, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1/2 cup jalapeños, chopped (seeds removed)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped jalapeños, brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, ground cumin, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Cut the pork shoulder into chunks and place them into the marinade. Allow it to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the pork from the marinade and sear it in the skillet until browned on all sides, about 6–8 minutes.
  5. Add the remaining marinade to the skillet and reduce the heat to low.
  6. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for about 90 to 120 minutes, or until the pork is tender.
  7. Serve the pork garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

Marinate the pork overnight for deeper flavor. Leftovers can be transformed into tacos, burritos, or casseroles.
