Description

A lusciously velvety spread that perfectly captures the cozy essence of autumn with the sweetness of apples and spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine the chopped apples and lemon juice in a large pot, tossing well to coat.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the apples turn soft, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt to the pot, stirring to combine fully.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer uncovered for about an hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Blend the mixture with an immersion blender until smooth, adjusting texture to your liking.
  6. Transfer to sterilized jars and allow it to cool to room temperature before sealing.

Notes

Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for depth. Check the consistency; if too runny, continue simmering.
