Description

A delightful blend of doughnuts and apple pie, these treats are filled with warm apple cinnamon goodness and coated in powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup apple pie filling
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for coating

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter in another bowl until fully incorporated.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  4. Fill a piping bag with the apple pie filling.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Pipe small rings of batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon, draining on paper towels.
  8. Roll the warm doughnuts in powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

For a healthier option, try making these in an air fryer or bake them in a doughnut pan.
