- 1 loaf of French or challah bread
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups full-fat milk (or almond/oat milk)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- Maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Prepare the bread by cutting it into 1-inch cubes and placing it in the baking dish.
- Mix the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl until smooth. Pour over the bread, pressing down gently.
- Craft the pecan topping by melting butter in a saucepan, stirring in pecans and brown sugar until bubbly.
- Top the soaked bread with the pecan mixture evenly.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and set. Let cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm with drizzles of maple syrup.
