Indulge in this rich and comforting baked pecan French toast, perfect for brunch gatherings or cozy family breakfasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of French or challah bread
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups full-fat milk (or almond/oat milk)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the bread by cutting it into 1-inch cubes and placing it in the baking dish.
  3. Mix the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl until smooth. Pour over the bread, pressing down gently.
  4. Craft the pecan topping by melting butter in a saucepan, stirring in pecans and brown sugar until bubbly.
  5. Top the soaked bread with the pecan mixture evenly.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and set. Let cool slightly before serving.
  7. Serve warm with drizzles of maple syrup.

Notes
