- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh rosemary (optional)
- Flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Mix warm water and yeast in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl; create a well and pour in yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet; gently spread it to fill the sheet.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter and add minced garlic over low heat.
- Brush the garlic butter onto the dough and sprinkle with rosemary and flaky sea salt, if desired.
- Let the dough rise for another 20 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crisp on top.
- Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
