Description

Delightfully golden and subtly sweet cranberry orange scones that are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy afternoon treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in chopped cranberries and orange zest.
  5. Whisk together heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  6. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
  8. Cut into wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  10. Whisk together powdered sugar and orange juice for glaze and drizzle over warm scones.
  11. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

You can prepare the dough a day in advance and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake. These scones can also be air-fried for a crispier finish.
