- 1 loaf of brioche bread
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Sugar for caramelizing on top
- Butter for greasing the pan
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and generously grease a baking dish with butter.
- Slice the brioche bread into thick pieces, about 1 to 1.5 inches thick.
- Whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until combined and fluffy.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread, gently pressing the slices down.
- Cover your dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until golden and slightly jiggly in the center.
- Sprinkle a thin layer of sugar over the top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize.
- Serve warm, optionally with powdered sugar or fresh berries.
Notes
For a vegan version, use plant-based milk and cream and flax eggs.
