Description

Enjoy a flavorful and healthy Garlic & Lemon Cedar Plank Salmon that’s perfect for gatherings and enhances any meal with its smoky and zesty notes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 to 2 1/2 lbs salmon fillet
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (melted)
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tsp sea salt & ground black pepper
  • 3 tbsp fresh dill
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 3 garlic cloves (pressed or grated)
  • 1 large lemon (zest and juice)
  • 1 tbsp capers (finely chopped)
  • 1 bundle asparagus (about 15 to 20 spears)
  • 1 to 2 tbsp olive oil & sea salt (to taste)
  • Zest from 1 lemon
  • 1 to 2 cedar planks (pre-soaked)

Instructions

  1. Soak your cedar planks in water for at least one hour to avoid burning during grilling.
  2. Combine the melted butter, dill, Dijon mustard, garlic, lemon juice, chopped capers, and sea salt in a bowl to make the marinade.
  3. Lay the salmon on a clean surface and generously pour the marinade over it, letting it soak in.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and place the soaked cedar plank on the grill until it begins to smoke.
  5. Position the marinated salmon skin side down on the plank and grill for 15-20 minutes or until flaky.
  6. Prepare the asparagus by trimming the ends, tossing with olive oil, sea salt, and lemon zest, and grill alongside the salmon for the last 9-12 minutes.
  7. Serve the salmon from the plank with reserved marinade drizzled on top.

Notes

Make-ahead: Prepare the marinade and let the salmon marinate a few hours in advance. If you don’t have a grill, bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes.
