Description

A delightful combination of brownies and cookies, these homemade brookies are rich, fudgy, and sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well until fully combined.
  4. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  8. Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for the cookie layer in a separate bowl.
  9. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until fluffy.
  10. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  11. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer.
  12. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden-brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  13. Allow to cool, then cut into bars.

Notes

For a lighter option, consider using coconut oil instead of butter, or swap out half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
