Description
Warm and comforting chicken and dumplings filled with rich flavors of chicken broth, tender chicken, and fluffy dumplings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat until it bubbles lightly. Add chopped onion, and sauté until translucent, about 3–5 minutes.
- Add sliced carrots and chopped celery, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in shredded chicken, then pour in chicken broth and milk. Raise heat and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Prepare the dumpling dough by combining flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add water to form a soft dough.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the simmering broth. Cover the pot and let steam for about 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Stir in black pepper and chopped parsley gently to avoid breaking the dumplings.
Notes
