Description
Deliciously soft and fluffy, these no-knead buttermilk dinner rolls are perfect for soaking up gravies or enjoyed warm with butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Whisk together the flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar until well combined.
- Pour in the warmed buttermilk and melted butter. Crack in the egg, and mix with a spatula until a shaggy, sticky dough comes together.
- Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel. Let rise at room temperature for 12-18 hours, until it’s bubbly and puffy on top.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking dish by greasing it with some butter or cooking spray.
- Turn out the dough onto a floured surface. With floured hands, gently turn and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round roll and place them in the greased baking dish, ensuring they touch slightly.
- Cover the shaped rolls and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until they’ve puffed up beautifully.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown and the aroma fills your kitchen.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
Notes
For an even richer flavor, brush the tops with melted butter right as they come out of the oven.
