Description

A nostalgic comfort food dish featuring juicy beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Form into four patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then cook patties for about 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Remove the patties and keep warm on a plate.
  4. Add sliced onions to the same skillet and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually pour in beef broth and soy sauce, whisking continuously until thickened.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer in gravy for about 10 minutes.
  8. Serve warm, drizzled with gravy and sides like mashed potatoes or vegetables.

Notes

You can prepare the patties a day in advance. Store in the fridge for up to 24 hours before cooking.
