- 24 oz tomato sauce
- 12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or spaghetti)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Sauté the aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, cooking until onions are translucent.
- Brown the sausage: Crumble the sausage into the skillet and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
- Combine with tomato sauce: Stir in the tomato sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Cook the pasta: In a large pot, boil salted water and cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- Mix the pasta with sauce: Drain pasta and add it to the skillet, tossing to coat.
- Serve and garnish: Serve in bowls, topped with Parmesan cheese and basil.
Notes
For a spicy kick, use spicy Italian sausage or add crushed red pepper flakes. Customize with additional vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms.
