Description

Ingredients

  • 24 oz tomato sauce
  • 12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or spaghetti)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Sauté the aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, cooking until onions are translucent.
  2. Brown the sausage: Crumble the sausage into the skillet and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Combine with tomato sauce: Stir in the tomato sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Cook the pasta: In a large pot, boil salted water and cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  5. Mix the pasta with sauce: Drain pasta and add it to the skillet, tossing to coat.
  6. Serve and garnish: Serve in bowls, topped with Parmesan cheese and basil.

Notes

For a spicy kick, use spicy Italian sausage or add crushed red pepper flakes. Customize with additional vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms.
