- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour (for streusel)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (for streusel)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for streusel)
- 2 tbsp cold butter (for streusel)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Stir together the melted butter, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the blackberries carefully with a spatula.
- Combine the ingredients for the streusel in a small bowl and cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
- Divide the batter evenly among the muffin liners and sprinkle the streusel topping over each muffin.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Serve warm for the best flavor. Can be customized with other berries or add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips.
