Description

A delightful baked dish featuring layers of brioche drenched in a creamy custard with fresh strawberries, perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Butter for greasing
  • Powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Slice the bread into thick pieces.
  3. Layer half the slices in the bottom of the dish.
  4. Spread the cream cheese evenly over the bread.
  5. Add the sliced strawberries on top.
  6. Layer the remaining bread slices over the strawberries.
  7. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  8. Pour this mixture evenly over the bread layers.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate overnight or for at least 2 hours.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Bake covered for 30 minutes.
  12. Uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar.
